- ➤ Famed singer Billy Joel gave a surprise performance in Wellington, Fla. on Friday night after he revealed his brain condition in May—he sang with the Turnstiles and his young daughters joined him—before cancelling his Syracuse show and saying he looks forward to performing again. Syracuse.com
- ➤ The Jugg on Teall will close its doors permanently at midnight on Jan. 16 at 2026 Teall Ave after last call on Jan. 15, following a fundraiser for co-owner Jesse Buckley (diagnosed with stage 3 voice box cancer) and a series of farewell shows. Syracuse.com
- ➤ On Feb. 15, 1946, Syracuse recorded its heaviest snowfall of 34 inches; the event got only a brief mention in the local paper (with a photo and short report) as heavy winds and whiteout conditions froze travel. Syracuse.com
