- ➤ Centerstate CEO released its 2026 economic forecast on Jan. 23 showing that 67% of local businesses rated the economy as good or excellent & 64% expect better performance next year, while many remain concerned about finding enough trained workers despite the recent Micron groundbreaking. WAER
- ➤ RIT’s microelectronic engineering program said the new Micron chip plant planned north of Syracuse in 2029 could serve as a talent pipeline for about 50,000 jobs, with roughly 9,000 requiring skills from RIT graduates. - ➤ Governor Hochul declared a State of Emergency on Friday ahead of a massive snowstorm that will bring a foot of snow to Central New York beginning tomorrow evening; residents should expect travel difficulties. CNY Central
- ➤ Mayor Owens issued a snow safety alert on Friday evening as heavy snowfall is expected to start Jan. 25; she urged drivers to follow parking rules and advised property owners to clear sidewalks and hydrants so that DPW crews can keep roads safe. CNY Central
