- ➤ Following a January staff walkout, the CNY SPCA's new board led by president Marcie Marshall took over to revamp animal care, facility upkeep + public services. The board said no staffing changes are planned and will share more updates soon. CNY Central

- ➤ DOJ documents show Syracuse University appears 65 times in Jeffrey Epstein’s files & records detail tuition payments and emails connecting Epstein to student Taylor Visoski from 2009 to 2013. The university confirmed her attendance but offered no further comment. CitrusTV

- ➤ A bright new mural was unveiled today at the Onondaga County Family Court in downtown Syracuse, created by Henninger High School students and artist Jaleel Campbell. The piece, titled (e pluribus unum 'Out of Many, One'), was funded by CNY Arts and supported by Syracuse University's Community Folk Art Center. CNY Central
- ➤ William Rowland II, co-founder of the Paul Robeson Performing Arts Company, died Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 83. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 28 at Abundant Life Christian Center in East Syracuse with a viewing at 10 a.m., a service at noon and burial on March 3. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Solvay High School students will perform the musical Big Fish on Friday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 and 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium — tickets cost $12 cash only at the door. Syracuse.com
- ➤ State data from December revealed that only Eagle Hill Middle School reached a 90% math proficiency among more than 210 Central New York schools during the 2024-2025 school year, while Syracuse Latin School recorded a 55% proficiency rate as the top city school plus testing covered grades three through eight. - ➤ Sardo’s at 6195 State Route 31 in Cicero received an unsatisfactory inspection on Jan. 20 after health inspectors found issues with unlabeled cleaning supplies and unsanitary storage; the spray bottle violation has now been corrected while 34 other local restaurants passed and two fixed earlier problems.
