  • Brian Rowlands (director of the Solvay Library) joins Maggie and Tom on Check It Out during February break to cover 45 to 50 county events, including Olympic trials at the library, a Mardi Gras party, a Snow Glowy Story Walk in Fairmount and a debut play for young audiences.  WCNY

  • CNY Playhouse presents 'The War of the Worlds: 1938 Radio Broadcast' at Atonement Lutheran Church from Feb. 13 to Feb. 22, adding a new prequel that shows how the classic radio play was created using live Foley sound effects — enhanced by period costuming and props.  Syracuse.com

  • Syracuse basketball fans can now legally trade on Kalshi (a federally regulated exchange) ahead of the SMU matchup scheduled for Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome. They may also get a $10 bonus when signing up to back the Orange.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse lacrosse beat top-ranked Maryland 11-9 Friday night at the JMA Dome before 10,159 fans, snapping an eight-game losing streak + earning a No.1 ranking when polls are released Monday.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse rallied from a 12-point deficit to upset SMU at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday — Nate Kingz’s final shot with 2.3 seconds left sealed a 79-78 win and improved the Orange’s record to 15-11.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse’s men’s basketball team will play the SMU Mustangs at 2 p.m. Saturday at the JMA Wireless Dome (the game will air on The CW). SMU’s top point guard Boobie Miller is set to challenge the Orange as they look to improve their conference play.  Syracuse.com

  • Le Moyne women's basketball clinched an 80-76 win over Chicago State on Saturday; junior forward Ashley Buragas set a career-high (30) points, leading the Dolphins to their third straight victory. The team will meet CCSU on Thursday at Ted Grant Court.  Syracuse.com
  • Herman Frazier, SU's senior deputy athletic director for 15 years, retired this weekend; his departure, along with athletic director John Wildhack stepping down on July 1, leaves the athletics department amid a leadership transition as a search committee begins its work.  Syracuse.com
  • Sixty Section III wrestlers competed in an inter-class tournament at Onondaga Community College on Saturday, with 28 Division I and 42 Division II athletes earning state tournament spots for Feb. 27 to Feb. 28 at Albany's MVP Arena.
