BUSINESS NEWS

  • CenterState CEO announced leadership changes to split the roles of CEO and president in a move to strengthen its growth strategy. Robert Simpson will remain as CEO while Ben Sio takes charge of day-to-day operations and Kevin Schwab is set to replace Sio as senior vice president of strategy.  Syracuse.com

  • Syracuse’s Hancock Airport was chosen by the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration to serve as a hub for testing electric and hybrid aircraft; regional officials said the project will boost Central New York's role in next-generation aerospace technology.  WAER

  • Syracuse men's basketball relieved coach Adrian Autry of his duties, with Griffin & Josh offering quick reactions on a podcast and noting that a new athletic director may soon be named. The team also faces a critical men's lacrosse road trip this weekend.  WAER
  • West Genesee will face Section X Canton in the state semifinal at LECOM Harborcenter in Buffalo on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. Coach Frank Colabufo leads the team as they aim for a fourth state title.  Syracuse.com
  • Bryan Blair was hired as Syracuse University’s new athletic director after the board approved his appointment. He left Toledo after winning 13 championships+raising 282% more gifts and will start on July 1 while planning to hire a new basketball coach.  Syracuse.com
  • The SU men’s lacrosse team played at the Air Force Academy Thursday at 5 p.m. as part of a six-game road swing in Colorado and will face No. 13 Denver Monday night to close the trip (team star Joey Spallina said the win over Johns Hopkins boosted confidence).  Syracuse.com
