  • Latasha Mott, 30, appeared in court on an indictment accusing her of beating her 5-year-old daughter to death with a belt in the shower at 127 West Beard Ave and hiding her body in an East Side field—detectives also found suspicious web searches like 'why do killers hide kids' bodies' on a phone she once used.  Syracuse.com

  • News Anchor Matt Mulcahy was selected for addition to the Syracuse Press Club Wall of Distinction at the theatre lobby in the Civic Center in downtown Syracuse—his honor will be celebrated at the annual dinner on May 3.  CNY Central

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Thousands of Central New York residents and caregivers in the CDPAP program will have until April 28 to re-register for the new administrator —Public Partnership LLC— while those who register after April 1 will receive retroactive pay.  Syracuse.com
  • Hundreds of demonstrators gathered Saturday outside the federal courthouse in downtown Syracuse to protest proposed federal cuts to Medicaid—fearing reduced healthcare access for vulnerable residents. The crowd marched a mile to state offices and urged lawmakers to protect Medicaid benefits.  WAER
  • Last Friday, Syracuse’s neglected St. Anthony’s Convent on Court Street caught fire, costing taxpayers $15,000 for boarding up and $23,000 for lawn upkeep on a property with 15 code violations. Mayor Ben Walsh and local lawmakers noted owner Mark Congel remains out-of-state and unresponsive — urging swift action to address the neglect.  CNY Central
