- ➤ Hamilton’s Good Nature Brewing has reopened its taproom with a new head brewer and chef after many repairs (the taproom now makes its own beer and offers an expanded menu with wild game and seafood). The farm brewery will hold a paired beer dinner Saturday at 5 p.m. (this event marks a fresh start after a challenging five-year period). Syracuse.com
CULTURE NEWS

GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul requested a USDA disaster declaration for farms in Oneida, Lewis, Herkimer, Oswego, and Madison counties after severe winter weather caused $15 million to $20 million in damage earlier this year. If approved, the declaration will let farmers apply for low-interest emergency loans (with an eight-month deadline). WAER
- ➤ On March 1, the Onondaga Nation sent a letter to county executive Ryan McMahon to resume talks about returning Maple Bay on Onondaga Lake—a sacred site for nearly 200 years—to use for traditional ceremonies and cultural practices. The county said the Nation must pay back taxes and promise not to sue before any deal can move forward. Central Current
- ➤ The city of Syracuse maintained and boarded up the fire-damaged St. Anthony's Convent on Court Street while billing owner Mark Congel through rolled taxes after he did not pay for upkeep — spending $15,000 on board-ups and $23,000 on maintenance — and is now using drone footage to assess the building's integrity for future demolition decisions.
