  • Seven-year-old Makai Bays met Ed Rohmer—who rescued him after he fell into the Seneca River at Lock 24 in Baldwinsville on March 29—and thanked him with a hug.  Syracuse.com

  • This week residents in CNY will attend a range of cultural events—starting today with the Nick Moss Band at The 443 Social Club and continuing with comedy sets, live music, art receptions and wellness classes in Syracuse, Auburn and other parts of the region through Sunday.  Syracuse.com
  • REO Speedwagon will reunite on June 14 at the State Farm Center in Champaign for a tribute concert to honor the band and raise funds for cancer research, but lead singer Kevin Cronin said he feels left out because he is booked to perform on The Brotherhood of Rock Tour in Bend (set for July 14). Cronin, who helped build the band over five decades, said the event should have been scheduled when all members could join.  Syracuse.com
  • Sora Kasuga, a Syracuse resident who faced bias because of a unique facial condition, now leads The FaceOut Project to empower people with visible differences.   • AAA reported that gas prices are slowly increasing as drivers prepare for spring break and a shift to summer fuel blends, with the national average at $3.17 and New York at $3.10. In Central New York, prices in Syracuse remain at $3.09 (unchanged from last Monday), and experts expect prices to peak in summer.  CNY Central
