- ➤ The city of Syracuse launched an online tool called Look Before You Rent that gives renters key property information such as code violations, rental registration status and details on nearby schools, parks and bus stops (data provided by the Neighborhood and Business Development Department). City officials hope the tool will help renters find safe and healthy housing after noting that about two-thirds of rental properties were unregistered. Syracuse.com
- ➤ Work began this week on a $107 million renovation of Almus Olver Towers in Syracuse as officials announced the project — led by McCormack Baron Salazar and the Syracuse Housing Authority — will upgrade the 12-story public housing tower for seniors and people with disabilities. The work will add 7 new units and modernize kitchens, bathrooms and common areas and is expected to finish within 18 months while many residents can move back into their upgraded homes. Syracuse.com
