- ➤ On March 27, the Lender Center led by Director Kendall Phillips hosted the 2025 Lender Symposium at Marriott Syracuse Downtown with about 300 representatives from 80 community groups gathering to discuss economic inclusion. The symposium offered roundtable discussions and networking sessions—focusing on topics like funding, burnout and advocacy as part of initiatives funded by a $2.7M grant from the MetLife Foundation. - ➤ Owner Mark Congel lost control of the historic St. Anthony’s Convent on Syracuse North Side, leaving the property vulnerable to vandals, thieves, and arsonists for years—an arson fire destroyed its roof and top floor on March 21 and 22. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Attorney General Letitia James, with the Syracuse Police Department and New York State Police, will host a gun buyback program in Syracuse on April 12 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at St. Lucy's Church Gymnasium at 413 Gifford St; the event will offer $750 per assault rifle, $250 per handgun, $75 per shotgun, and $25 for non-working, replica, antique, homemade or 3D printed guns.
