- ➤ Volunteers joined Sinclair Day of Service yesterday at Salt City Harvest Farm in Kirkville and at Saint Lucy's Food Pantry on the West Side, where they planted crops + sorted donations to support local hunger relief and refugees. CNY Central

EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Vincent Longhi Jr. ’78 has set up a $135,000 scholarship for students pursuing a dual degree in music education from the College of Visual and Performing Arts and School of Education. A 50% match from The Syracuse Promise will raise the fund to over $200,000 and honor his father while supporting future music teachers. Syracuse University
- ➤ U.S. News named Syracuse University's Maxwell School tied for the nation’s top public affairs program, beating Harvard. The ranking was based on surveys from deans, department chairs, and directors at 266 programs and shows the school’s long record of high marks since 1995. Syracuse.com
- ➤ Syracuse University announced Brad Horn as its inaugural Provost’s Innovation Fellow, who will build academic–industry partnerships to boost experiential learning for students. The two-year appointment begins Aug. 15 and runs through June 15, 2028. Syracuse University

- ➤ County Executive Ryan McMahon signed an emergency order on Tuesday to close all county waterways because dangerous water levels create hidden hazards (submerged debris and strong currents). The order will remain in effect until May 8 to protect residents and property. CNY Central
- ➤ DeWitt residents filled the town hall on Apr. 8 to press county executive Ryan McMahon for transparency over plans for the 65-acre former Shoppingtown Mall site; McMahon said he will review proposals for a mixed-use project that may include green space and local business, with a decision expected in June. - ➤ Wegmans recalled 2-pound bags of Lundberg Organic Jasmine White Rice on April 4 because they may contain foreign material from one production run at its local stores. Shoppers may return the product for a full refund by calling the customer service hotline. Syracuse.com
