- ➤ Syracuse firefighters battled a house fire Saturday, April 12 on the 100 block of Herriman Street in Skunk City that spread to a second home and led ambulance crews to treat a man and check on two cats and a dog — police closed Grand Avenue and Herriman Street. Syracuse.com

- ➤ A Syracuse sketch comedy series American High Shorts was nominated for a Webby Award in the People’s Voice category—leading with 45% of the vote—while fans can vote until April 17; winners will be announced on May 12. Syracuse.com
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On April 12, 2025, Syracuse police held a gun buyback at St. Lucy's Church where 130 assault rifles — including an Uzi — were turned in during a three-hour event that collected 638 guns overall.
