  • On April 13, 2025, hosts Ibrahim and Maryna welcomed Osman Hassan who fled Somalia with his family for Kenya to escape conflict in the early 90’s before coming to America—searching for a better life. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A house fire at 111 E Yates St. in East Syracuse on April 13th spread quickly and damaged the second floor and attic, forcing eight residents to evacuate—firefighters arrived by 7:35 p.m. and shut off power while the American Red Cross assisted displaced residents.  Syracuse.com
  • Sunday night at about 7:30 p.m., the East Syracuse Fire Department responded to a house fire on East Yates Street that displaced eight residents — the fire spread from the first to the second floor with no injuries reported — and investigators are working to determine its cause.  CNY Central

CRIME NEWS

  • Oneida County Sheriff’s Office deputy Aaron M. Alshaman (29) was on duty when a fire was set at his intimate partner’s home on Wednesday at 4:30 a.m. on the 1100 block of Kellogg Avenue and he has been placed on administrative leave as police investigate the arson while no arrests have been made.  Syracuse.com

  • The Country Folk Art Show and Artisan Market took place at the Fairgrounds from April 11th to 13th where vendors from across the northeast sold handmade items such as wood carvings, jewelry, and food—organizers said strong local support was evident as the show will return on October 3rd to 5th and December 12th to 14th.  CNY Central
