- ➤ Syracuse University sophomore Ezra Atkins will begin filming his short film Cold Stew next month in Woodstock. The 30-minute project uses green lighting to show eerie family dynamics & has raised over $9,000 on Kickstarter and GoFundMe. The Daily Orange
- ➤ Syracuse Improv is set to present a live Dungeons and Dragons inspired (D&D) improv comedy show at The Song and Dance, where locals can enjoy an evening of fantasy and humor. CNY Central
- ➤ Ruthnie Angrand has been named Onondaga County’s poet laureate for her spoken word work that celebrates Haitian-American heritage and human connection; she will receive a $7,000 stipend to support a youth poet laureateship and build a digital space for local poets. Central Current
- ➤ Student-run ensemble Meuschketools plays nontraditional woodwind and brass pieces on Tuesday nights at Setnor Auditorium. - ➤ Syracuse Law’s Innovation Law Center received a gift from alumnus Rodney A. Ryan L’97 to launch a patent law program in summer 2026 that helps students with science & engineering backgrounds prepare for the USPTO exam. The program eases exam costs for aspiring patent agents. Syracuse University
- ➤ Syracuse University has offered about 175 eligible faculty a voluntary retirement incentive (for long service or low enrollment programs) that gives lump sums and benefits access. Those who opt in must decide by May 15 to retire on Aug. 15. The Daily Orange
- ➤ Syracuse University has named 35 Remembrance Scholars for the 2026-27 academic year to honor students lost in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing. The scholars will plan annual Remembrance activities and be recognized during a fall convocation. Syracuse University

- ➤ The 104-acre site for the planned business park near Route 31 and Caughdenoy Road must undergo a full environmental review to assess impacts on traffic, air, water and wetlands. - ➤ Drivers near University Hill must expect detours as crews start construction Wednesday on a new roundabout near Van Buren Street while Almond Street will also close between Taylor & Van Buren. The work is part of the I-81 replacement project and will take six months, completing in November. WAER
