Syracuse Police are asking for help finding 16-year-old Jackob Barlow who is intellectually challenged and needs adult supervision—he was last seen on May 12 at 11 a.m. on Robinson Street wearing a white long-sleeved T-shirt, red shorts and blue sneakers and is known to frequent the Western Lights area on Onondaga Boulevard.

On May 13, Syracuse police responded to a shooting at 9:54 p.m. on North Townsend Street near the Moses DeWitt Apartments, blocking off several streets & deploying over 10 police cars, two ambulances and multiple crime scene vans.

After months of negotiation, the Syracuse Teachers Union and the city school district reached a tentative four-year contract agreement that will be voted on by union members next week.

The deal comes after a previously rejected contract raised concerns over wages and sick leave (union officials provided no further details).

Councilors in Syracuse approved $16 million in budget cuts that remove a property tax increase, reduce city reserve draws, and trim police and fire budgets by about 5% while cutting most other departments by 7 to 9%—the acting council president said they are open to further talks as Mayor Walsh must decide by Monday whether to accept, veto, or negotiate the plan. The budget, shaped over 45 hearings, needs to be finalized by the first week of June.

Syracuse University men’s lacrosse team is one win away from reaching its 28th Final Four and will face Princeton Saturday at 2:30 p.m. on ESPNU—ESPN analyst Paul Carcaterra said the game is equally matched and that Syracuse’s off—ball defense will be key to limiting Princeton to fewer than 15 goals.
