- ➤ Officials at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo announced new red wolf pups and Humboldt penguin chicks have arrived. The red wolf litter, born May 3 from Evie and Sage with four females and two males, and the penguin chicks, Domingo and Ramon, will be available for viewing soon — underscoring efforts to preserve endangered species. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Syracuse man pleaded guilty to third-degree grand larceny in Onondaga County Court—he stole nearly $22,000 by depositing pension checks meant for his dead mother—and he will be sentenced on June 23. Syracuse.com
- ➤ Andrew Wilbur, a 25-year-old from Cayuga County, was sentenced on Thursday to 12 years in prison for possessing child pornography images and videos between January and May, 2024—he will also serve 15 years of supervised release and must register as a sex offender. CNY Central
- ➤ Five men were arrested early Wednesday at an apartment in Syracuse and are accused of running a drug ring that operated like a business with set hours for buying narcotics—prosecutors said the indictment includes 19 separate drug sale acts from March to May. Syracuse.com
