- ➤ On Monday, June 9, a fire on the north side of Syracuse forced an adult and a child to be taken to local hospitals while firefighters controlled the blaze—caused by an electrical malfunction—in about 10 minutes. CNY Central
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Local union officials negotiated a new severance package for 220 TCGPlayer workers in Syracuse who will lose their jobs this summer when operations move to a Kentucky distribution center. The package offers 20 weeks of severance pay + an extra $2.50 per hour, 6 months of COBRA coverage, 7 months of mental health benefits + a $1,250 bonus, the union stated. CNY Central

- ➤ On June 8 a 5-year-old girl was lured with candy from a playground on Bear Road in North Syracuse into a wooded area by Ryan Pontello—33—who was arrested on June 9 and charged with rape, sexual abuse and luring a child, with detectives saying additional charges are likely and urging anyone with more information to call the authorities.
