ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Crews from local fire departments and the Onondaga County Sheriff's Office searched Tully Lake Sunday for the body of a 21-year-old man who was kayaking with a friend and went into the water around 3:35 p.m., and the search turned into a recovery mission using sonar.  Syracuse.com

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 14, Onondaga County deputies responded to a report of a man in his 30s shot in the buttocks near the 400 block of Brookfield Rd in Mattydale in the Town of Salina—he remains in stable condition and authorities believe the shooting was not random while the investigation continues.  CNY Central
  • Police are investigating a hit-and-run collision — a motorcyclist in his late 50s was seriously injured Sunday at 6:29 p.m. at the intersection of Midland Avenue and West Borden Avenue when a dirt bike struck him and its operator fled — and he was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he is expected to survive.  CNY Central
  • On Saturday, June 14, 2025, firefighters arrived at 8073 Crockett Drive in Cicero where an 81-year-old man and a 75-year-old woman died in a house fire—three residents were trapped when first responders arrived—and two firefighters were injured.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse police have seized eight ATVs this season—responding to public complaints about off-road vehicles on roads and parks—and said owners can reclaim their towed vehicles before they are scrapped.  CNY Central

  • Families in Syracuse celebrated Father's Day at Harvey’s Garden with a baby race where little ones, including a baby from the garden owner’s family and nine-month-old Burks whose parents doubted his chances, competed and received medals—bringing proud fathers immense joy.  CNY Central

  • Invest Buffalo Niagara's Greg Pokriki joined a podcast episode that aired on June 12 to explain Buffalo's climate-haven campaign - he said that the strategy, which includes promoting freshwater access and safety from natural disasters, may offer ideas for Syracuse.  Central Current

  • Mary Kuhn, a former Onondaga County legislator who served the 7th District from 2019 to 2023, died Saturday at 76 after a two-year battle with cancer—she was a strong advocate for ethics and transparency in county government.  Syracuse.com
