  • Peter Nestico (after 25 years) has passed the keys to his Italian restaurant to his protégé Marty Richardson, who will refresh the menu with new brunch options while keeping old favorites like the pasta pie unchanged. CRIME NEWS

  • Syracuse Police responded to a stabbing incident on the 100 block of Gifford St just after 9:30 p.m. Saturday night where a man in his 40s and a 29-year-old woman suffered stabbing injuries and were taken by private vehicles to a local hospital—investigation continues.  CNY Central

ECONOMY NEWS

  • AAA WCNY reported the national average for a gallon of gas is $3.19 while Syracuse prices fell two cents to $3.15 from last Monday—experts say prices may rise slightly with holiday travel next week as diesel costs also climbed a bit amid global oil market changes.  CNY Central

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Assemblyman Al Stirpe will host a free electronics recycling event on July 12 at the North Syracuse DMV from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.—residents can drop off old devices to reduce waste and promote reuse.  CNY Central

  • The Syracuse Mets swept Saturday’s doubleheader against the Rochester Red Wings at Innovative Field with wins of 8-0 and 10-2, led by Brandon Sproat's six scoreless innings. They ended their six-game series on Sunday afternoon—game six started at 1:05 p.m.  Syracuse.com
