  • Ross Castner— the new owner of the former Crucible steel plant in Geddes—plans to restart some furnaces and may sell part of the 70-acre site for a future hotel or brewery near the fairgrounds.   • Syracuse Police revealed new data showing that in 2024, 86% of handguns used in crimes came from outside New York—mostly from Ohio, Georgia, and North Carolina—and recovered guns and gun-related arrests declined from previous years.  CNY Central

  • Paulo De Miranda, a Maxwell School alumnus, used his early humanitarian work and studies to launch DEEP— a startup that measures carbon emissions and sustainability impact for organizations in Brazil.   • Fire Station 12, which closed over 30 years ago, reopened on Wednesday as city leaders and firefighters dedicated the station to protecting the growing downtown area—its first emergency call came within hours.   • Researchers at Syracuse University studied how false ADHD claims on TikTok hurt college students' understanding of the disorder.
