  • A 40-year-old woman, Nicole Azzoto, was found dead Friday at her home on Glass Terrace in Syracuse—police said she was shot during a domestic incident.  Syracuse.com

  • Yesterday, a live music event took place in Liverpool and today, Onondaga Lake Appreciation Day and a free paint session are held in Syracuse—residents can look forward to more festivals, concerts and community activities later this week across Central NY.  Syracuse.com

EDUCATION NEWS

  • In about six weeks, 250 students and 40 teachers will start classes at the new STEAM School in Syracuse—city officials say the first and second floors are ready while work continues on other parts of the building. Leaders stress that this school, which will begin with only freshmen, has backing from the city, county, state, and private partners to offer a focused education blending arts and sciences.  CNY Central

  • Judge Robert Antonacci II considered options to fix Intermountain’s illegal monopoly move after it closed Toggenburg Mountain — proposals from potential buyers include reopening it as a ski facility or redeveloping it into a veterans wellness center. The judge set an August hearing to decide if the company must sell the property to restore competition in the local market.  Syracuse.com
  • Today the Clay Town Board votes on an agreement that will have Micron deposit $100,000 in a retainer account to reimburse town fees — code enforcement, engineering and legal — for its proposed chipmaking complex on Route 31 and Caughdenoy Road in Clay.  Syracuse.com
