- ➤ Syracuse contractor Chad Terrinoni of Hummingbird Heating & Cooling donated a new $40,000 air conditioning system so Mary Nelson’s Youth Center can reopen next week after a summer with few visitors and missed meals. - ➤ A former Oswego County assistant district attorney pleaded guilty in Onondaga County Court on July 30th to vehicular assault and DWI after a Feb. 2 crash on Bear Road in Clay that injured an 18-year-old man—she received five years’ probation, a three-year conditional discharge, a one-year driver’s license revocation with an interlocking device requirement and forfeited her law license. - ➤ AJR will perform at the New York State Fair’s Suburban Park stage on Aug. 21 at 8 p.m. with free admission + the band replaces Steve Miller Band after it canceled its tour due to extreme weather risks + fair officials added that 40 national acts are set to play through Sept. 1. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Officials and NYSDOT are urging drivers to use alternate routes and drive slowly in I-81 work zones as five contracts work on key interchanges. Assemblymember Bill Magnarelli said a bill will remove tolls on the 481 ramp to Baldwinsville for six months to ease traffic until construction is finished. CNY Central
- ➤ The Interstate 81 northbound Exit 29N off‐ramp in Cicero closed on weeknights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting July 30 for paving, guiderail installation and striping as part of the I-81 Viaduct Project—drivers must follow a signed detour to Exit 28 until the closure ends on August 2. CNY Central
- ➤ The City of Syracuse is moving forward with a project called the clanker + a system of low-hanging rubber balls that make a loud noise when hit by tall trucks to deter strikes on the Park Street railroad bridge. The project is led by the Syracuse Department of Public Works after truck rerouting caused a three-fold increase in bridge hits. CNY Central
- ➤ Governor Hochul warned that a new federal policy could cause more than 750,000 children to lose health coverage statewide while Representative Mannion said the federal cuts are devastating for 15,782 Onondaga County children under age 6 enrolled in Medicaid and Child Health Plus. A letter from CMS indicates that federal support for the state program will end by 2027—raising concerns among state officials. CNY Central
- ➤ Town officials in Manlius have chosen a 10-acre site owned by the YMCA off Medical Center drive for a new town hall and police department building estimated to cost about $39 million. Supervisor John Deer said the town will hold a public discussion on Wednesday night to gather community feedback — a shift from the original plan to put the proposal on the November ballot this year.
