- ➤ On August 7th, New York State Police responded to a tractor trailer crash along Interstate 90 eastbound in Brutus that killed truck driver Mark Shidler, who was in his fifties, and injured two others—one being a Syracuse passenger airlifted to Upstate Hospital—which led to a traffic delay stretching 5.1 miles for about three hours. - ➤ A 35-year-old man was shot in the leg at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 10 at Midland Avenue and West Newell Street on Syracuse’s South Side—he was taken to Upstate University Hospital and is in stable condition, police said. Syracuse.com
- ➤ On Thursday at 4:30 a.m., Syracuse police raided a home in the Valley area to arrest suspects and seize a modified Glock 9—linked to a July shooting on Lincoln Drive—using careful planning to keep the neighborhood safe. CNY Central
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The New York State Department of Transportation announced that northbound I-81 in Syracuse—between the Pearl Street on-ramp and Exit 23—will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays starting today until August 19 for bridge work on the I-81 Viaduct Project.
