- ➤ New York State Police are reviewing an incident under its Use of Force Policy after a video posted on Aug. 31 showed a trooper punching a 25-year-old minibike rider during a stop for multiple traffic violations on Erie Boulevard on Aug. 23 — the rider, Oscar R. Blair, later faced charges including obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct. CNY Central
- ➤ Two men fired guns in the parking lot of the Lakeside Fire Department Recreation Hall at 1002 State Fair Blvd. during a one-year-old's birthday party late Friday night, August 29, injuring five people; one man accidentally shot himself and is now in jail on weapon charges while the other shooter remains at large. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Syracuse STEAM High School opened today after being closed since 1975 when officials cut the ribbon Tuesday—joined by County Executive Ryan McMahon and Mayor Ben Walsh.
