ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study by The Brattle Group — paid for by Constellation Energy — concluded that shutting down the state's four nuclear reactors would add $50B in costs and raise power prices, which could slow the regional economy. The study did not include the potential cost of extending reactor subsidies over another 20 years.  Syracuse.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • Crouse Hospital in Syracuse is now the first in Central New York to use AI to spot early signs of heart disease with its CTFFR test—a tool that creates a 3D heart image to find blockages without invasive procedures. The system has been used on 53 patients so far, helping avoid unnecessary catheterizations for nine and identifying serious issues in three others.  CNY Central
  • Between Aug. 17 and 23, the Onondaga County Health Department reported that 60 food service establishments passed routine inspections + 9 food trucks received clean passes with no unsatisfactory results noted.  Syracuse.com
