  • Micron Technology filed a 336-page site plan with the town of Clay for its planned chipmaking complex at Route 31 and Caughdenoy Road—this filing starts a key review needed before construction can begin. Contractors have begun pitching services and Onondaga County will evict a 91-year-old widow from her home in Clay to make room for the project.  Syracuse.com

CRIME NEWS

  • A 27-year-old man was shot in the leg early Sunday on Syracuse’s West Side — officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert and he was dropped off at Upstate University Hospital where he is in stable condition.  Syracuse.com
  • A man aged 63 was stabbed in his right arm at 5:57 a.m. on the 400 block of Tully Street on Saturday — he had a belt tied around his arm to slow the bleeding as officers arrived and was taken to Upstate University Hospital where he is expected to survive.  Syracuse.com
  • Police located 12-year-old Alexis Rivera safe after she was reported missing from her home on Whitwell Drive Friday and later seen in the 100 block of Spring Street—she returned home without injury.  Syracuse.com

  • Mary Homer, a fourth-generation bead worker from Oneida Nation’s Wolf Clan, became the first and only Indigenous designer to show her Homer Couture collection at Syracuse Fashion Week, and she will debut her next line at New York Fashion Week this fall with a design dedicated to Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women. She continues to build her brand while honoring her community's heritage.  WCNY

  • The state Department of Transportation said Interstate 690 West will be reduced to one lane between Exit 14 at Teall Ave and Exit 13 at Townsend St/Downtown today through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.—crews work on the I-81 Viaduct Project and drivers are urged to slow down in work zones.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse Police Chief Joseph Cecile answered local questions today about the new red-light cameras installed in school zones and advised drivers and pedestrians on back-to-school safety—he also explained how residents can join the annual 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at Forman Park on Thursday.  CNY Central
