COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community leaders, advocates and residents celebrated the grand opening of Thrive Syracuse this weekend. The dispensary said it will reinvest 51% of its profits — funding local programs through the Center for Community Alternatives.  CNY Central
  • Fifty advocates gathered Friday in Fulton to report that the ICE raid at Nutrition Bar Confectioners left dozens of workers missing or deported and caused local families to face hardship—some now must choose between food and legal help. Advocates urged lawmakers to act as the factory operates at reduced capacity and community members continue to feel the lasting shock from the raid.  WAER
  • Families enjoyed a fall day at Beak & Skiff Orchards where visitors picked apples, sipped cider and took hayrides as the beautiful weather drew crowds—organizers said the event celebrated the season and brought the community together.  CNY Central

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The state Court of Appeals denied a Fayetteville resident’s appeal to stop plans to turn the old O’Brien and Gere building at 547 E. Genesee St. into a Hannaford supermarket. Mayor Mike Small said all approvals remain in place and the project will move forward after six years of legal challenges — clearing the legal path for the new store.  Syracuse.com
