  • Local graphic novelist Frank Cammuso appeared on Check It Out at Onondaga County Public Libraries on September 27th to explain how he developed his idea for the Knights of the Lunch Table — a tale that inspired Salem Hyde.  WCNY

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Newhouse School students spent a year creating two multimedia projects that report on how the Erie Canal changed life in upstate New York—projects timed for the canal’s 200th anniversary and recognized with national awards. Their work deepens our view of the canal’s legacy and its ongoing impact on the community.  Syracuse University

  • Carol Watson explains gardeners should bring outdoor plants indoors as colder months approach—her Gardening Update details this process and the Greenhouse in Lafayette is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.   CNY Central

  • Section III girls swimming and diving leaderboard is updated through Sept. 26 using times from local coaches at Cicero-North Syracuse High School — the list shows class leaders by recorded times — and it reflects ongoing competition in local sports.  Syracuse.com
  • The Syracuse Orange hosted the Duke Blue Devils on Saturday at 12 p.m. ET at the JMA Wireless Dome, with new starter Rickie Collins taking the field after quarterback Steve Angeli suffered an Achilles injury during the Clemson win — Duke was listed as a 5.5-point favorite and the game was broadcast on the ACC Network.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse football will miss redshirt-senior linebacker Derek McDonald and freshman running back Malachi James in their upcoming game against Duke since McDonald missed last week’s opener and James is inactive for a third game. The team also added redshirt-senior wide receiver Umari Hatcher to the inactive list while Johntay Cook and Tyshawn Russell are listed as questionable — details that may impact the game.  Syracuse.com
  • Mason Clark of Central Square football intercepted a pass on Friday, Sept. 26, 2025, forcing two turnovers that ended Nottingham’s comeback hopes—securing the win at Paul V. Moore High School. The play helped the Redhawks prevent a late drive and clinch the game.  Syracuse.com
  • Syracuse football head coach Fran Brown—known for his strong social media presence—lost his starting quarterback and saw his program fined $25,000 by the ACC for faking injuries.  Syracuse.com
