COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This weekend, Bills fans in Central New York joined the community at Harvey’s Garden during halftime of the Buffalo Bills vs. New Orleans Saints game—led by Ryan Frantzis, known as the Bills Mafia Pope. They celebrated by singing 'Shout', receiving free T-shirts, and enjoying a bubble party as they officially became part of Bills Mafia.  CNY Central
  • Onondaga County Public Libraries are hosting a Costume Closet event to offer free, gently used Halloween costumes to families in need this fall. Families can donate costumes (White Branch: October 11; Mundy Branch: October 17; Betts Branch: October 24) and pick up costumes (White Branch: October 11; Mundy Branch: October 18; Betts Branch: October 25) on a first-come, first-served basis.  CNY Central

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Residents in DeWitt woke up Sunday to thick smoke from a large fire at Metalico Metal Recycler — flames reached as far as Liverpool and four fire departments responded — while the cause remains under investigation.  CNY Central

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Sheriff Toby Shelley said reducing high mileage on vehicles will improve fleet reliability and save taxpayer money—older cars with nearly 200,000 miles trade for little while flexible spending funds may allow new vehicle purchases after lawmakers met on September 26.  WAER

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Syracuse brothers Greg and Colin Cleghorn built a $275 million real estate empire by starting with $1 homes and later buying industrial properties—this shift came as the demand for e-commerce warehousing grew. Their strategy turned local investments into a multi-state operation that strengthened the market.  Syracuse.com

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Section III high school sports scoreboard from Sept. 27 shows that Liverpool beat Norwich 2—0 in girls soccer. Other sports scores from boys soccer, cross country, field hockey, football and tennis were posted online—keeping local fans updated on key match results.  Syracuse.com
  • At the JMA Wireless Dome on Sept. 27, 2025, Duke Blue Devils defeated Syracuse Orange as Syracuse's defense allowed over 400 yards in every game and 500 yards in consecutive weeks—prompting Duke's coach Manny Diaz to say he rarely had to call a pass play in the fourth quarter.  Syracuse.com
