- ➤ The Syracuse Fire Department partners with the National Fire Protection Association to launch Fire Prevention Week today through October 11 — hosting demonstrations like a mock rescue at Huntington School on October 6 and an open house at Fire Station 17 to show how to safely handle lithium-ion battery risks. - ➤ The Taste of Korea Festival brought South Korean culture to East Syracuse this past Saturday at Legacy Gym—visitors sampled bulgogi, tteokbokki, and kimchi while enjoying K-pop performances and a Squid Game-inspired challenge area. - ➤ Today, the Syracuse Jewish community gathers for the October 7th Community Commemoration at 450 Kimber Road from 5:30 to 7 p.m.—the event will honor the victims of the 2023 attacks in Israel with candle-lighting, musical tributes, reflections, and a video message from the parents of a hostage.
