- ➤ Anthony 'TD' Davis, the Syracuse City School District superintendent who began his career in 1986, will retire on Oct. 31—more than a dozen local leaders, including Mayor Ben Walsh and U.S. Rep. John Mannion, honored his lasting impact on students and staff. He developed programs like the STEAM high school and ensured meals reached students in food deserts throughout his decades-long career. - ➤ Yesterday, Syracuse worked with SUNY-ESF to mark the James Pass Arboretum’s 100th anniversary by planting a Kentucky coffee tree on Tipperary Hill and coaching students in proper tree-planting techniques.
