- ➤ Operation Orange Warmup will collect new and gently used coats to help Syracuse neighbors stay warm; donations will be accepted at the Oct. 18 football game at the JMA Wireless Dome and via campus bins from Oct. 20 to Oct. 24. The program, run by the Office of Community Engagement, will also feature a coat selection event on Nov. 5 in Room 308 at Barnes Center. Syracuse University

- ➤ Seven year old Ki’Sean Robinson dashed into traffic on Almond street when he chased a stray dog and was hit by a car — his serious injuries have improved with help from doctors, nurses, family and friends. Syracuse.com
- ➤ A small debris fire broke out inside the Novelis aluminum plant in Scriba shortly after midnight on October 10 and was quickly put out—officials are investigating the cause and assessing any damage. CNY Central

- ➤ Pyramid Management Group reached a deal with a lender to stop foreclosure on Walden Galleria near Buffalo — the agreement gives the group until the end of 2025 to get new financing. Syracuse.com

- ➤ This weekend, many events will take place in Central New York, including the 52nd LaFayette Apple Festival at Tully Farms Road (9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday), Monster Jam at the JMA Wireless Dome on Saturday, and the 3rd Indigenous Peoples’ Day Festival at the Onondaga Nation Fieldhouse on Sunday. Other planned events include the final Super DIRT Week race at Oswego Speedway, a ghost walk in Baldwinsville, a RetroGameCon at the OnCenter Convention Center, a major book sale in Ithaca and family-friendly Halloween activities. - ➤ Philadelphia artist Chris B. Murray is painting a three-story mural of longtime coach Jim Boeheim at 215 W. Fayette St in downtown Syracuse — a project two years in the making with local donor support and a $90,000 budget approved by the Syracuse Public Art Commission — as he honors his lifelong love of Syracuse basketball. - ➤ The University Art Museum launches an exhibition titled 'Depicting the Everyday: A Legacy of Fine Arts Education at the Art Students League' at the Bernard and Louise Palitz Gallery in Midtown Manhattan to honor 150 years of fine arts education from our museum’s collection — showcasing works such as Morton Kaish’s 'Arrival VII'. A free reception with a gallery talk by curatorial assistant Esther Moerdler is scheduled from 6—8 p.m. on Oct. 29 while the show runs until Feb. 9. Syracuse University

- ➤ Data from the Greater Syracuse Association of Realtors shows that eight towns in Onondaga County, including (Spafford, Skaneateles, Elbridge, Lysander, Camillus, Clay, Tully and Otisco), saw average home sale prices rise by over $30,000 from this time last year. Syracuse.com
- ➤ In August, all four major metro areas in Upstate New York ranked in the top 10 nationwide for selling homes above list price, showing a strong market—Rochester led at 12.38% over list price while Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany recorded 6.51%, 4.59% and 2.33% respectively. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Mat Williamson dominated DIRT modified racing this summer at Oswego Speedway and, after a motor failure forced him to use his backup car, he quickly moved from last to a strong finish in a heat race ahead of Saturday's events—his win at last week's Outlaw 200 marked his third in four years.
