- ➤ The Rescue Mission in Syracuse is facing a surge in Thanksgiving meal requests as SNAP cuts and a government shutdown leave more families struggling to put food on the table. They have received nearly 3,900 meal requests plus the agency needs food donations and volunteers to help serve local residents. CNY Central
- ➤ Today, Central New York hosts the 18th CNY Veterans Parade and Expo at the New York State Fairgrounds with over 100 organizations and a parade starting at noon (free to attend, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). The weekend also features holiday markets like the Harvest Moon Holiday Market and 30th annual Holiday Shoppes, the NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet Sunday at Landmark Theatre, a Fall Psychic Fair at Greystone Castle, a retirement party for zoo dog Cora at Rosamond Gifford Zoo, and the Taste of Strathmore fundraiser Saturday night (tickets $25 at the door). - ➤ On Friday, Onondaga County officials unanimously approved Micron's Final Environmental Impact Statement—addressing public concerns over water, air, traffic, and noise as the microchip project clears a major hurdle. Site-clearing work may begin before the year ends, and the project will move forward with plans to boost local economic activity. WAER

- ➤ St. Joseph’s Health Hospital reported that 25% of its Women and Infants Unit had or will have babies, with 15 nurses and one doctor already delivering and one nurse due soon — the first baby was born on October 2 and the most recent arrived this week — showing a growing baby boom among staff.
