- ➤ Holiday Shoppes celebrates 30 years as the Junior League of Syracuse hosts a three-day marketplace at the Fairgrounds Horticulture Building that began Friday and continues today. The event features over 100 vendors, live music, and a food drive — proceeds benefit local groups that help families and support women’s leadership. CNY Central
- ➤ Saturday, the 18th Annual CNY Veterans Parade & Expo took place at the New York State Fairgrounds without active military units due to the federal shutdown—community groups and veterans filled the gap with retired military vehicles, color guards, and high school bands, while Assemblyman William Magnarelli said the event honored those who served. - ➤ Bruce Strong, a Syracuse University professor, opened his photo exhibit 'Call to Me, Balkans' on November 6 at the Panasci Lounge at Syracuse University's Schine Student Center (a favored venue for the local Bosnian community) to show life in the Balkans 30 years after the Bosnian War; the exhibit will travel to the National Gallery in Sarajevo on November 20 and runs through January. - ➤ Since launching in March 2025, the Masterminds Chess Club at the Mundy Branch Library has helped kids sharpen their thinking and build confidence during weekly sessions held every Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Organizers will host chess tournaments across Syracuse to celebrate learning and leadership.
