- ➤ Bianchi's Catering in Solvay will keep giving one free cheese pizza with a topping of choice to the first 50 SNAP recipients who call to order between Saturday and Tuesday — the pizzas will be picked up Tuesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. as the business helps those affected by the government shutdown. - ➤ Hundreds of flags are flying across Central New York in the annual ceremony that honors veterans, first responders, and all who served—780 flags now display the community's gratitude. The project began 13 years ago with just over 100 flags and has grown to become a symbol of local pride and remembrance. CNY Central

- ➤ Manlius Police responded early Sunday when a small herd of goats escaped into town and officers safely herded them back—repairing the fence with the owner to prevent another escape. CNY Central

- ➤ The New York Lottery said that a winning Take 5 ticket sold November 8 at Price Chopper on Erie Boulevard in Syracuse earned $9,702.50—ticket holders have one year to claim their prize. CNY Central
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Syracuse Fire Department is recruiting candidates for an entrance exam as it aims to boost its staffing—Executive Deputy Chief Elton Davis said the department needs quality firefighters. Applicants must submit forms by November 25 with the exam set for January 10. CNY Central
- ➤ Drivers in Central New York should plan for lane closures on I-81 and I-481 this week as crews work on the I-81 Viaduct Project and Bear Street Bridge maintenance — work that is weather-dependent. I-81 southbound will have one-lane restrictions from Exit 1B to Exit 78 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. on weeknights from today until November 14, with additional closures in Syracuse from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until November 25 and on I-481 northbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until November 12 — drivers are urged to slow down and obey posted signs.
