- ➤ Lights on the Lake returned Monday at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool with a two-mile drive-thru featuring hundreds of holiday displays and over 600,000 lights—tickets must be purchased online in advance. The event’s first week featured charity nights, with Monday’s $5 entry supporting 22 Until There’s None and Syracuse Grows and Tuesday’s donation benefitting HumaneCNY and Second Chance Adoption Shelter. - ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul signed a law on November 17 that removes civil service barriers for hiring specialized aviation workers at Syracuse Hancock International Airport to help meet rising travel demand. Airport officials say the change will allow the airport to quickly add staff as economic growth drives more air travelers to the area—strengthening operations and workforce stability. WAER
- ➤ Azalia King, a 91-year-old Clay widow, sued Onondaga County Industrial Development Agency after it served her an eviction notice on Sept. 4 that conflicts with a 2005 agreement—one that guaranteed her a lifelong residence—aiming to clear her property for Micron Technology's chipmaking complex. The county set a departure deadline for Jan. 16 and scheduled a public hearing on eminent domain—at 9 a.m. Thursday in Clay Town Hall—for further action. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Dr. Bradley Raphael, a well-known sports doctor who cared for many local athletes, is leaving Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists to join St. Joe’s Physicians on December 1—he will serve as sports medicine director along with three other doctors.
