- ➤ The Syracuse Police Department will host its second annual Michael Jensen Memorial Hockey Game on Dec. 6 at the OnCenter War Memorial Arena to honor the officer who died in the line of duty on April 14. The game will feature the Le Moyne Hockey alumni team, charge a $5 entry fee, and use a raffle fundraiser to support Law Enforcement United—helping families of fallen officers. CNY Central

- ➤ Comedian Daniel Tosh will perform his My First Farewell Tour at the Oncenter Crouse-Hinds Theater in Syracuse on June 24 at 7 p.m.; tickets go on sale Friday, Nov. 21 at 10 a.m. The Syracuse stop is the only Upstate New York date on his tour. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Syracuse University celebrated the launch of its Center for the Creator Economy on Nov. 12 at Flaum Grand Hall — more than 250 students, alumni, and leaders gathered to hear creator Jon Youshaei. The new initiative, led jointly by the Whitman School of Management and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, will offer courses on digital branding, content monetization, and entrepreneurship to prepare students for a fast-growing market. Syracuse University

- ➤ Onondaga County approved Micron Technology’s plan to build a massive chipmaking complex at White Pine Commerce Park in Clay pending federal permits and other agency approvals. The deal includes selling 820 acres for $30 million and granting $2 billion in tax breaks, with site clearing set to begin in December and the project expected to create thousands of jobs. - ➤ State officials launched the NY BABY Benefit on Nov. 5 to offer a one-time $1,800 payment to public assistance families for birth-related expenses — eligible recipients will automatically receive the benefit when a newborn is added to their case, with an $8.5 million budget set aside for the program. - ➤ Governor Kathy Hochul signed a bill from Senator Christopher Ryan that lets the Syracuse Regional Airport Authority classify some aviation positions as exempt from civil service—excluding police roles—to help recruit skilled professionals. - ➤ Dr. Xi Yang, a surgeon at Auburn Community Hospital, said he was fired for warning leaders about unsafe patient care and overlapping surgeries, and he filed a complaint in New York State Supreme Court seeking money for his termination. - ➤ The 2025 Onondaga High School League field hockey all-stars were announced by Section III coaches today, with Cazenovia’s Hayden Bubble and players from local high schools such as Cato-Meridian, Homer, Port Byron and Weedsport named to the team. Syracuse.com
- ➤ Syracuse coach Adrian Autry named sophomore Noah Lobdell the captain of the Juicing Station—his role is to keep the bench energized and ready during games.
