- ➤ On Saturday, over 1,000 families and volunteers gathered at Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery to set 3,600 wreaths on snow-covered gravestones as part of the Wreaths over America event + honoring veterans’ legacies and shared memories. Central Current
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ At Hancock Airport, the TSA warned holiday travelers not to pre-wrap gifts unless using a tissue paper bag as officials expect a busy Friday with about (5,300) departing seats compared to the usual 4,500. The airport will launch the Confirm ID program Feb. 1 for travelers lacking a Real ID. CNY Central
- ➤ Today, legal dispensaries must complete credentials for the new METRC system that uses QR codes to track cannabis products from seed-to-sale, as mandated by the New York State Office of Cannabis Management; licensees must update inventory details by Jan. 12. CNY Central
- ➤ The state reopened both lanes of Cicero’s South Bay Road bridge, giving drivers full access after summer restrictions; in the spring, the bridge will return to one lane for northbound traffic as work continues on its raised structure over I-81. Syracuse.com

- ➤ Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh unveiled the names of three new snowplows Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Public Works Salt Barn as part of a two-year plan to expand the winter fleet; the plows, named 'Syracuse Salt-Shaker', 'Snow Big Deal' and 'You're Killing Me Squalls', cost about ($250,000 each).
