- ➤ La Liga has been named as the central New York beneficiary for this year's statewide holiday drive. The non-profit will receive 4,298 donated items including food, toys, coats and school supplies from local groups. CNY Central
- ➤ A third-place winning Powerball ticket bought at Tops Market (on West Genesee Street in Camillus) earned its owner $50,000 on Thursday, Dec. 25. CNY Central
- ➤ On Christmas, local families volunteered at the Rescue Mission, serving record-setting 4,000 meals at lunch and dinner while teaching children the value of giving. Long-time volunteer Sona Barletta and first-year volunteer Lenette Savo helped make the event a cherished community tradition. CNY Central

- ➤ Planet Aid is tackling textile waste by using bins to collect old clothing, rugs (and mattresses) in Syracuse and upstate. Uli Stosch said fast fashion has driven a rise in discarded textiles, and emerging mechanical and chemical recycling methods may help reduce landfill waste. WAER
- ➤ Onondaga County will distribute bottled water if data confirms a likely service stoppage this weekend due to a ruptured transmission line serving 27,000 accounts in areas including Manlius, Pompey and Fayetteville, and officials urge residents to conserve water. Syracuse.com
